A Little
I have a BA in Theology, an MA in Applied Theology and a PGCE. Before entering the ministry in 1996 I was a secondary school RS teacher in Worcestershire. As a clergyman I have worked in parish ministry in rural Shropshire, southern Africa, south America, and as a school chaplain in Surrey, Kent and Co Durham. It’s a particular privilege to be able to be able to contribute the school both as a governor and as the local vicar. I take a strong interest in how church and culture meet and am interested to hear anyone’s views on this.
As for family, I have been married to my wife Lisa for 31 years. She is a secondary English teacher. We have twin 23 year old boys, Jonathan and David.
Mrs R. Webb– Chair of Governors
Since my son joined Goodrich Primary School in 1999 I have enjoyed my involvement with the school including succeeding Graham Watling as Chair of the PTFA. In 2004 I became the voluntary administrator of the Goodrich School Meals Association which provides meals for the majority of our pupils. For forty years I have been involved with the Monmouthshire County Show, more latterly organising the Craft and Shopping Marquees and over the years have been Chair of the Management Committee and ‘stand in’ Management Secretary for a year.
I enjoy working with and looking after animals and currently have two World Horse Welfare rescue horses.
My job as a self-employed bookkeeper and administrator has given me useful, transferable skills for school governance since my appointment in 2010 and I am time flexible enough to accommodate the various duties expected of us.
I was born and raised in Somerset, which is where I started my teaching career. I have taught in different schools, both state maintained and private and am driven by my dedicaton to ‘make a difference’ to the children and families I have the privilege to work with.
Away from Goodrich, I am blessed with a fantastically supportive family. I am not the best gardener in the world but I find it a retreat at the end of a busy week or a long walk with our crazy spaniels!
Mrs W. Watling– Staff Governor
I was born and raised in Birmingham, then moved to Surrey. Over 40 years ago I settled in Ross-on-Wye. I love the area and it is definitely home.
I have been employed at Goodrich School as a Teaching Assistant since 2011 and took on the role of Staff Governor in 2012. During my time as a Teaching Assistant I have experienced working with all classes and year groups throughout the school. I have been in Peregrine class for over three years and currently enjoy helping with a focus on English.
I have two grown-up daughters who both attended Goodrich School. My association with Goodrich therefore goes back many years and I have experience of the school from both sides – as a parent and a member of staff.
I have been a governor at Goodrich since 2017 when both my children attended the school.
I myself attended Goodrich for my primary education as my family have farmed here for well over one hundred years.
I have run my own business for the last 25 years which has helped me in my role as governor. I’m on two of the local parish councils. In my younger days I was chairperson of the local young farmers club going on to be vice chairperson of the county.
Mrs M. Corker– Foundation Governor
I was privileged to be appointed by the Diocese of Hereford as a Foundation Governor to the school in March 2022. I have a Christian commitment and I am interested in supporting the link between the school, the Church and the wider community, as well as cherishing the Christian ethos of the school. I look forward to being involved in Open the Book, which is much enjoyed by the children. As a member of St Giles Parochial Church Council I am involved in Sunday services and fundraising activities. Also, I am Goodrich’s correspondent for Wye Reaches and Wye Brooks Benefices’ Border News magazine.
I was brought up in the Lake District and I have lived in Goodrich for 21 years. I have been married for 48 years, and have two sons and two grandchildren. My interests include reading, walking, Pilates and learning Spanish.
I qualified as a teacher from Durham University in 1973. Since then, I have taught mainly in primary schools in the UK and overseas, both in the state and Independent sector. I have held several posts of responsibility, including Early Years coordinator, Key Stages 1 and 2 coordinators, English coordinator, County Associate Literacy teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and Head Teacher. English is my specialist subject, however in most of the schools I taught Religious Education and led collective worship.
Miss K. Bujalska- Parent Governor
I am blessed to live in the village of Goodrich with my family, including three boys who attend or attended Goodrich School. We moved here from the city three years ago, following a craving for nature, and a desire to return to the roots of my childhood.
In my twenties I gained a degree in Fine Art, going on to hold many painting exhibitions. I also taught art to children and adults in school, museums, and outdoor settings. These days I work as a professional copywriter, alongside taking an ongoing shamanic apprenticeship.
I am a keen gardener, a beekeeper, and a lover of wild places. I believe all children should have opportunities to cultivate wonder and curiosity in nature.
Previously, I’ve been a governor in an inner-city nursery school. This provided an altogether different perspective, which I’m able to bring to my role as parent governor here, alongside values of value gentle parenting, empathy, understanding, and creativity.
